This August, the streets of Washington, D.C., traded their usual rhythm for the unmistakable sound of NTT INDYCAR SERIES engines as the inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix raced through the heart of the nation’s capital. Set against the backdrop of the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, and some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, the race served as a historic celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Ridgewells served as the official caterer for the race’s premium hospitality spaces and suites while also providing meals for the racing teams working behind the scenes.
Preparing for a First-of Its-Kind event
Long before the first car arrived on the circuit, teams across Ridgewells were developing menus, coordinating staffing, mapping deliveries, organizing equipment, and planning every stage of service.
Every detail had to be considered. From how food and equipment would reach each hospitality structure to how our teams would transition service across multiple floors while racing activity continued just outside.
In the days leading up to the event, our culinary team shifted into full production mode while our operations team loaded trucks, prepared temporary kitchens, and coordinated the hundreds of moving pieces required to bring the weekend to life.
Hospitality Around the Circuit
The Freedom 250 featured more than 70 luxury suites, the majority of which were located within the Delta and Monument Suites – two three-story hospitality structures offering guests remarkable views of the track and surrounding Washington skyline.
Across every structure and floor, Ridgewells served breakfast, lunch, and refreshments throughout practice and race day. Menus were designed to complement the fast pace of the weekend, offering guests an elevated hospitality experience without taking them away from the action. Behind the scenes, our team worked in sync to transition from breakfast to lunch across multiple floors, replenish displays, and keep service moving seamlessly.
Feeding the Teams Behind the Race
Beyond the premium suites, Ridgewells also provided meals for the racing teams whose work powered the weekend. Our team helped keep them fueled with meals designed to fit the demanding pace of race weekend.
A Historic Weekend in Washington
The Freedom 250 brought together everything major-event hospitality requires: thoughtful menus, logistical precision, adaptability, and a team prepared to move at full speed.
For Ridgewells, it was especially meaningful to contribute to an event of this scale in the city we have called home for nearly a century. We are incredibly proud of our team that worked so hard behind the scenes to help make this historic weekend possible.
